Canoe and Kayak Race celebrates 50th run

Registration is open for the 50th annual run of the Mid-American Canoe and Kayak Race along the Fox River.
The event, set for June 5, will feature two different races. A 10-mile race will begin at 9 a.m. from Mount St. Mary Park in St. Charles. A 6-mile race will kick off at 10:30 a.m. from the VFW in Batavia.
Both races will finish at McCullough Park in Aurora, where a tailgate-style party for all paddlers, friends and families will take place.
Awards will be given for first-, second- and third-place finishers in each division for both races.
Canoe and kayak slots rentals are available for both races. Also, groups of 10 boats or more that register together receive $5 off per paddler.
All registered paddlers will receive a commemorative T-shirt and 50th anniversary keepsake pin, goodie bag and lunch, and be eligible for prize drawings at the post-race party.
